This tutorial we will learn to make swirls and twirls in a minute. We will be using liquify filter to do this tutorial.
Here we create swirls and make a custom 125 x 125 ad place holder (as you see on the left site of this site).
Open a document 300px X 300px. Create a new layer.
Draw a square and fill it with red color (#b40000)
From the tool menu select the polygonal lasso tool. Go to the left top corner and click. Now press the shift button and just move the mouse down. Now close the selection by joining from the outside. Delete the selection to make a triangular shape like below.
Repeat the same to make a cut in between by using the above method.
By using a brush draw a diagonal line by pressing Shift button.
Lets start making the swirls.
Go to the Filters menu and select the Liquify.
On the Right hand side you can see the liquify tools. Click on the “Twirl Clockwise Tool ” or press “C” to select the button.
On the Leftsite You will find the settings. Change the setting as below.
Brush Size to = 75 and remaining things to 100
Now press center up part as shown below . You can see twirls happening.
Now move the cursor down and press athe “Alt” key and along with it press the mouse button. You can see twirls happening in the reverse way.
Make the brush size small - to 50 and apply besides in reverse way.
Similarly repeat it by using smaller brushes.
In the same way appy to the bottom part as shown below. Here I have used center part small brush.
You can use it the way you like.
So after applying throughout all the edges it will be somthing like this.
Press the “OK” button. (filter menu)
Now lets add some color.
Select the gradient ctrl+G select the spectrum which will be there by default. Apply it .
Go to the Filters menu once again and select the ink outine filter and apply the following settings.
Results will be like this.
Duplicate the layer and paste it in the opposite corner. Scale down around 50%.
Apply background color with an outline.
Scale down if you want to make it a 125×125 ad placeholder.Hope you can make it better by drawing curvy lines, leaves and buds, which will make it more interesting.
